Close to 100 ballet students auditioned for the Charlotte Youth Ballet’s (CYB) 2012 Season. Ranging in age from 8 -- 18, these male and female dancers represent the most dedicated that the Charlotte region has to offer. Founder and Artistic Director, Gay Porter, eagerly anticipates each new season as an opportunity to mold and develop each individual dancer and offer them unsurpassed stage experience. Coming from as far as Belmont and Kannapolis, NC and Ft. Mill, SC, dancers are welcomed from a range of backgrounds and skill levels. While the youngest are still novices, the more senior Company Dancers are highly trained award-winners, having won the Emerging Artists Ensemble Award by the Charlotte Emerging Dance Association each time they have entered the competition. Adding a measure of polish to the process, a team of 6-8 local and international professional guest artists will join the cast to put the finishing touches on the shows.
