Company dancers are premiere dancers chosen from within the corps de ballet. Company dancers typically perform pointe parts in CYB productions as well as some non-pointe parts. In addition to our major productions, Company dancers are also asked to participate in special appearances through the season.
Selection of Company dancers starts with expressed interest from the dancers during the audition process. There are three levels of Company dancers depending on age, proficiency on pointe and the discretion of the artistic director:
- Apprentice
- Dancers 11 years of age or older with at least 1 year of pointe experience. Apprentice level dancers must maintain a minimum of 2 ballet technique classes and 1 pointe class per week at the dance school of their choice during the season.
- Company
- Dancers 13 years of age or older who show a proficiency on pointe. Company level dancers must maintain a minimum of 3 technique classes and 1 pointe class per week at the dance school of their choice during the season.
- Sr. Company
- Dancers must have at least 3 years of pointe experience and show advanced proficiency on pointe. Sr. Company level dancers must maintain a minimum of 3 technique classes and 2 point classes per week at the dance school of their choice during the season.
Selection and placement of Company dancers is by invitation only and at the sole discretion of the artistic director.
