Auditions
Auditions are held at Central Piedmont’s Dale F. Halton Theater.
Parking at 1225 East Fourth Street is free.
These auditions are for the entire 2026-2027 season.
You may indicate whether you will participate in Nutcracker, the spring show (Snow White) or both productions.
Please plan to attend regardless of which show(s) you would like to be cast in.
Audition Times
12:30pm – 1:20pm
3rd-4th grade girls and boys in elementary school
1:30pm – 2:30pm
NON-POINTE girls (5th grade +) and boys in middle school
2:45 – 4:15pm
POINTE girls age 13+ (with at least 2 years of pointe experience) and boys in high school
Audition Information
A $30 audition fee is assessed for each dancer. One fee covers the audition for both Nutcracker and our spring storybook ballet. The fee is waived for male dancers.
Please arrive at least 45 minutes early to park, register, warm up/stretch and ensure you are ready when your group is called. We cannot allow dancers to enter auditions once they begin.
Girls should wear a black or dark solid-colored leotard. Boys should wear black tights or leggings and a white shirt.
All new and returning parents must attend one of the parent meetings held during their dancer’s audition (12:30pm or 1:30pm).
Callbacks for our spring production will be announced at a later date.
Complete registration here prior to auditions and bring a completed, printed copy of the Artistic Director form.

A $30 audition fee is assessed for each dancer. One fee covers the audition for both Nutcracker and our spring storybook ballet. The fee is waived for male dancers.

A $250 performance fee is assessed for each dancer per production. This fee is due prior to the first rehearsal (unless prior arrangements have been made.
Additionally, dancers are required to purchase the correct tights and ballet shoes for their role.
In addition to the performance fee, there is a $150 fee for those selected to be in the CYB Company each season (Senior Company, Company and Apprentice levels). It is not a requirement to be a part of the Company to dance with CYB. For more information, see our Company Page.

All Company dancers are expected to participate in fundraising. All cast members are encouraged to, but not required to, participate in CYB Company fundraisers.
Each family is required to serve on a volunteer team, especially during the performance weekend. We are firm about this commitment as CYB is run exclusively by volunteers and without them we simply couldn’t function. There are a wide variety of options to suit nearly any interest and schedule. Volunteers working directly with our youth are required to complete a background check. Families who cannot meet the volunteer requirement will be assessed a $350 fee (per production). Fees assessed must be paid prior to future CYB participation.

We ask that each family sell a MINIMUM of five (5) performance tickets for each production your dancer participates in (The Nutcracker and Spring Show), regardless of family participation in patron campaigns.
