Charlotte Youth Ballet Company is comprised of dancers ages 11-18 who demonstrate excellent ballet technique. They come from dance studios across the greater Charlotte area

The company has  three levels:

• • Our apprentice-level dancers attend a minimum of 2 ballet technique classes and 1 pointe class for girls or 2 ballet technique classes for boys per week at the studio of their choice. Dancers should be 11 or older to audition to be an apprentice.
  • Our company dancers demonstrate proficiency on pointe and attend a minimum of 3 ballet technique classes and 1 pointe class for girls or 3 ballet technique classes for boys per week at the studio of their choice. Dancers should be 13 or older to audition to be a company member.
  • Our senior company dancers have a minimum of 3 years of pointe training, demonstrate advanced technical proficiency on pointe, and present strong ballet technique. They must attend a minimum of 3 ballet technique and 2 pointe classes (girls) or 4 ballet technique classes (boys) per week at the studio of their choice.

In addition to performing in The Nutcracker and our spring storybook ballet, company members attend master classes, participate in team-building events, perform in outreach shows, and volunteer with younger dancers. Junior and senior members receive a company jacket. Selection into the company takes place during auditions for The Nutcracker each fall. For audition information, see our audition page.
