• WHY PRESERVE THE LEGACY?

Charlotte Youth Ballet enjoys a rich tradition of enhancing the cultural life of the Charlotte community with the only youth-based performing ballet company in the region. For over a quarter of a century, the CYB has proudly produced professional-quality Nutcracker and storybook ballets that merge a principal cast of professional international dancers and local students of ballet.

Our productions are designed to be accessible and affordable to a diverse audience with a particular focus on families in an effort to expand the reach of this centuries-old art form and to foster a lifelong appreciation for ballet. 

Your support will:

• Offset costs (artistic, technical, administrative, insurance,  storage, theatre costs,  etc.) We have an outstanding relationship with dancers in Puerto Rico who are part of the CYB Family. Your help could help us pay for travel costs of these professionals. We also have storage facilities that are costly, your help can help us with overhead costs. 

• Being the longest running Nutcracker in Charlotte, means we often have old sets and costumes.  CYB’s Board works to help replace and improve costumes and sets for our dancers and our audience with help from you. 

• Increase our endowment to be financially ready to stage professional-quality productions once it is safe to do so, while keeping ticket costs and company dancer fees to a minimum.

In addition, corporate funding sustains a variety of CYB outreach programs, including the following:

•  S.O.S- Send One Student! Send one student, but we hope you send more!  Help us fund our outreach program with CMS and Title One Schools.  CYB brings on average 500 students to see Nutcracker at not cost to the school.  This is our mission and our passion, please help us recover school show ticket costs and donate today to S.O.S.  Nutcracker school shows are $10 and Spring Show School tickets are $15. 

• Underwriting free after-school ballet classes for underserved children in the community (our Lasting Impressions program offers the opportunity of direct underwriting). 

• Scholarships for company members, so all dancers can participate, regardless of ability to pay.

• Special events for Girl Scouts.
