Auditions

AUDITIONS – Mark your calendars now and make plans to join us for auditions on September 7, 2024

Auditions times on September 7th are as follows:

12:30 – 1:20 – 3rd/4th grade girls and boys in elementary school

1:30 – 2:30 – NON-POINTE 5th grade and older girls and boys in middle school

2:45 – 4:15 – POINTE girls age 12+ and boys in high school

Please arrive at least 45 minutes early to park, register, stretch and ensure you are ready when your group is called. We cannot allow dancers to enter auditions once they begin. As a reminder, auditions are held at the Dale Halton Theatre at CPCC. Parents must attend the parent meeting during their dancer’s audition. It is a requirement, even if you have attended this meeting in the past.

Callbacks for Alice in Wonderland will be held on November 10th at the Charlotte School of Ballet. Times TBD.

Nutcracker December 6 – 8, 2024

Alice in Wonderland – March 7 – 9, 2025

Audition fees:

A $30 fee is due for each female dancer auditioning for our shows.  The fee is waived for male dancers.

Performance fees:

A $250 performance fee is assessed for each dancer for Nutcracker and $250 performance fee is assessed for each dancer for Spring Production. This fee is due prior to the first rehearsal (unless prior arrangements have been made (cyb@charlotteyouthballet.org)).  Discounts for male dancers. 

Company fees:

In addition to the performance fee, there is a $150 fee for Senior Company, Company and Apprentice Membership. For more information, see our Company page

Other requirements:

Volunteering: Each family is required to serve on a volunteer team, especially during the performance weekend. We are firm about this commitment because CYB is run exclusively by volunteers and without them we simply couldn’t function. There are a wide variety of options to suit nearly any interest and schedule. Volunteers working directly with our youth are required to complete a background check. Families who cannot meet the volunteer requirement will be assessed a $350 fee. Fees assessed must be paid prior to future CYB participation.

Ticket sales: Each family is required to sell a MINIMUM of five (5) performance tickets for each production (Nutcracker, spring show) your dancer participates in, regardless of family participation in patron campaigns.

Fundraising: All dancers are expected to participate in fundraising. As a non-profit arts company for youth, we rely on everyone to share our news and events with the community.

PLEASE NOTE: All CYB programming is contingent on COVID-19 infection rates and state safety protocols. Adjustments to, postponement of and/or cancellation may be necessary as we will adhere to all state and local regulations for the safety of everyone. If CYB alters the program, you will be notified of the new plan and may choose to withdraw at that time.
